The court reporting professional organizations anticipating the impending shortage in court reporters nationwide are doing all that they can do to promote the profession of the court reporting/captioning professions.
Carlos Martinez, CSR, RPR, President of the California Court Reporters Association (CCRA), posted on his LinkedIn profile his mission: My objectives are to increase awareness of the court reporting profession and to market it as a viable career option enabling us to begin to fill our schools with students.
True to his mission, President Martinez has been participating in numerous events to promote the profession. He and his board members were present at the South Coast College Health and Career Fair on October 19, 2013. He and his board members are now visiting high schools in an attempt to get the word out to the high school community about this great career of court reporting/captioning. President Martinez is an advocate of the profession because the profession has been good to him. He was previously an owner of C & M Court Reporters and currently holds the position of Official Court Reporter for Sonoma Courts.
